Purpose: Nurses working with the elderly will review and update their skills for managing urinary incontinence. Objectives: 1. Summarize the prevalence and incidence of urinary incontinence. 2. Explain tests to diagnose the causes of urinary incontinence. 6. Review incontinence management programs for use in long-term care facilities and home care settings. 7. Review guidelines for a urinary incontinence program in long-term care. 8. List three types of toileting management. 9. Explain appropriate prevention, treatment, and nursing management techniques.
