NUR181 - F686 Preventing Pressure Ulcers (1.0 HR)

Purpose: The nurse will enhance her understanding of CMS requirements in preventing pressure ulcers as well as promoting the healing of pressure ulcers that are present. Objectives: 1. Define terminology related to pressure ulcers; 2. Describe how pressure ulcers occur; 3. Explain pressure ulcer prevention measures; 4. Identify risk factors that increase an individual’s susceptibility to develop or to not heal pressure ulcers; 5. Discuss pressure points and tissue tolerance; 6. Describe interventions that can be utilized to prevent or treat a pressure ulcer; 7. Discuss pressure ulcers, including the three most common types of ulcers, staging, healing, s/s of infection, and dressings and treatment.
