NUR161 - Depression in Children and Adolescents (3.0 HR)
Purpose: Participants will increase their understanding of the characteristics of depression in children and what therapies are appropriate in treating it. Objectives: 1. List the common symptoms and behaviors associated with depression in children and adolescents; 2. Discuss the theories related to causes of depression in children; 3. Discuss the various diagnoses related to depression in children; 4. Increase their understanding of suicide and suicidal behaviors; 5. Identify appropriate treatment modalities for depression; 6. Increase their understanding of medications used in the treatment of Depression; 7. Identify measures for prevention of depression; 8. Review case study examples of depression in children.
