NUR158 - Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) (1.0 HR)
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) occurs in around 4.4% of U.S. adults. While there is plenty of historical documentation for the disorder, the cause is unknown. This course will help health care workers understand the symptomology and treatment of ADHD, especially in the adult population.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
1. State the category attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) falls under within the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition.
2. Describe the three different presentation types of ADHD.
3. Explain how the symptom of impulsivity may present in childhood.
4. Discuss the behavioral risks ADHD is associated with.
5. List some common co-occurring mental health diagnoses.
6. Discuss the risk factors for ADHD.
7. List the diagnostic criteria for ADHD.
8. Explain the maladaptive schemas associated with ADHD.
9. State the prevalence of substance use disorders for individuals with ADHD.
