REG110 - Identifying Elder Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (1.0 HR)

 

Purpose: The purpose of this course is to enhance the knowledge of the health care professional in defining, assessing, identifying, increasing awareness, reporting, and caring for elderly people who may be suffering from abuse or neglect, whether in a private home or a residential setting. Objectives: 1) Define elder abuse and neglect; 2) Identify the signs and symptoms of elder abuse; 3) Describe red flag indicators that contribute to elder abuse and neglect; 4) Describe the health care professional’s role in identification and prevention of elder abuse; 5) Identify resources for reporting suspected abuse and neglect. Continuing Education Credits: 1.0 contact hours Iowa BON #335; 1.0 contact hours CA Board of Nursing CEP 14033; 1.0 contact hours CE Broker # 50-4572 Florida and District of Columbia; 1.0 contact hours for Social Work State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
