REG121 - General Safety (0.5 HR)
Purpose: To be aware of general safety issues and how to prevent injuries in the workplace. Objectives: 1. Describe the steps of hand hygiene and its importance in health care; 2. Discuss the basics of body mechanics and be aware of some lifting/transfer aids on the market; 3. Discuss kitchen safety and be aware of work practices to avoid injury; 4. Discuss hazard communication and be aware of what information is included on a Safety Data Sheet; 5. Identify slips, trips and falls and how to prevent them; 6. Be aware of ways to avoid injury when using ladders; 7. Discuss Blood-borne pathogens; 8. Identify tuberculosis symptoms and testing protocols; 9. Be aware of possible ways to prevent aggression and how to react to it.
