NUR128 - Scott's Story: When a Child Dies (2.0 HR)
Purpose: Upon completion of this course, the participant will gain insights into a mother’s grief after the death of her four year old son and how the health care professional can use those insights to better support and care for the family when a child dies. Objectives: 1. Define and better understand the grief process; 2. Increase their ability to talk to individuals who are grieving; 3. Discuss how grief affects siblings when their brother or sister dies; 4. Increase their ability to talk to children about death; 5. Identify appropriate methods for helping individuals and families cope with the death and dying of their loved one.
