REG118 - Infection Control for Direct Care Personnel (1.0 HR)
Purpose: Health care providers and others employed within health care facilities will learn about infection control measures including precautions, transmission-based (isolation) precautions, handwashing, personal protective equipment, sterilization, and disinfection. Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to: 1. Describe basic infection control measures, including the importance of handwashing; 2. Discuss clean (uncontaminated) versus dirty (contaminated) equipment and supplies and how to handle each; 3. Explain the difference between standard precautions and transmission-based precautions and when to use each; 4. Review how and when to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
