NUR127 - Hospice 101 (1.0 HR)

Purpose: The purpose of this course is to educate the learner about the concept of hospice and the corresponding philosophies and services it provides. Objectives: 1. Discuss the historical timeline of the start-up of hospice in the United States; 2. Discuss the current status of hospice care in the United States; 3. Differentiate between hospice care and palliative care; 4. Describe core hospice philosophies and services; 5. Discuss the essential concepts of effective communication with the terminally ill patients and their families; 6.
