NUR186 - Diabetic Foot Ulcers (1.0 HR)

Purpose: The healthcare professional will gain an increased knowledge related to the cause, care, and prevention of the diabetic foot ulcer. Objectives: 1. Identify those persons who are at risk for development of diabetic foot ulcers; 2. Explain Charcot Foot and how it relates to diabetic foot ulcers; 3. Describe the symptoms/characteristics of diabetic foot ulcers; 4. List assessment and testing methods used with diabetic foot ulcers; 5. Explain two common classification systems used in grading diabetic ulcers; 6. List 5 debridement techniques; 7. Identify appropriate off-loading techniques used to prevent or assist in healing diabetic foot ulcers.
