NUR168 - Headache in Adults & Children (2.0 HR)
Purpose: To enhance the participant’s knowledge of types of headaches common in adults and children, diagnosis, and treatment. Objectives: 1. Differentiate headache categories relative to adults and children; 2. Explain rebound headache; 3. Identify five headache patterns in children; 4. Discuss migraine headache in adults and children, diagnosis and treatment; 5. Discuss the importance of the headache diary; 6. Describe collaborative care utilized with the headache patient; 7. List potential migraine triggers; 8. Discuss nursing diagnoses and interventions related to the child/adult with headache; 9. Explain client/family education relative to the client with headache; 10. Discuss pharmacologic intervention, nursing implications and interventions, and client/family teaching.
