CNA117 - Personal Cares: Part 2 (1.0 HR)

Purpose: The nursing assistant will enhance her skills in providing oral hygiene, safe transfers and dining assistance to the person served. Objectives: 1. List the benefits of good oral hygiene. 2. Define periodontal disease; 3. Demonstrate the proper procedure for providing oral care and denture care. 4. Explain the proper use of a gait belt; 5. Demonstrate the proper procedure for a one-person transfer, a two-person transfer, and transferring the person served to and from the toilet using a walker or wheelchair; 6. Discuss the use of lift devices for transfers. 7.
