ALL120 - Understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a dramatic life-altering condition that causes intense feelings of horror, fear, and hopelessness. The purpose of this course is to assist health care workers in identifying symptoms of PTSD and understanding its impact. Topics will also include treatment options as well as in-the-moment techniques to help residents cope with trauma or PTSD symptoms.
Objectives:
Uplon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
1. Define trauma.
2. Identify symptoms of PTSD.
3. Discuss the causes of PTSD.
4. Recognize the treatment options for residents with PTSD.
5. Describe in-the-moment grounding techniques health care workers can utilize with residents with PTSD.
