ALL101 - Latex Allergy (0.5 HR)

Purpose: The health care worker will better understand latex allergy, its causes, those at risk, signs and symptoms of a reaction, diagnosing latex allergy, and proper documentation. Objectives: 1. List common healthcare equipment and common household items that may contain latex; 2. Describe three types of reactions to latex; 3. Discuss those at risk for latex sensitivity/latex allergy; 4. Discuss the diagnosis and treatment of latex allergy; 5. Explore a latex-safe patient environment; 6. Discuss proper documentation for the latex sensitive/allergic patient.
