REG102 - Fire Safety (1.0 HR)

 

Purpose: Patients in health care facilities are especially vulnerable to a fire. Health care staff must be prepared to respond in the event of a fire. This self-study will help health care staff understand the basics of how fires occur and spread and how to prevent fires. Health care staff will increase their skills in recognizing fire hazards, preventing fires, and options for responding appropriately to a fire emergency. Objectives:  1) List elements necessary for fire to occur; 2) Explain specific fire hazards in health care facilities and what to do about them; 3) Outline fire prevention principles; 4) Identify the correct fire extinguisher to use for each type of fire; 5) Describe the critical action steps necessary when a fire occurs; 6) Identify other dangers that can result from fire.
